tooty
the GPA component of Ottawa admissions is pretty simple. Either you make the wGPA cut using your last 3 years, or you don't. their evaluation of ECs on the other hand is subjective like any other school so the more high quality ECs you have the better. whether your last 3 years comes from your first or second degree is irrelevant because they don't discriminate. i'm sure many second degree people make it to the interview phase. good luck. h.u.n.
Hey, Yes I am aware of the process... but thanks for clarifying sometimes i wonder whether ottawa discriminates students who have 2 undergraduate degrees.. hence the posting thanks anyway
tooty
i bet a lot of people share your doubts, but my feeling is that it would be entirely unethical for schools to secretly discriminate against nontrads while claiming not to to the public. if they want to favour trad applications, they can easily do so by manipulating their requirements. you can rest well knowing that if you get the grades, you'll pass their GPA hurdle. h.u.n.
you have a good point, thanks Ill be applying this year and if all goes well this semester my GPA should be around 3.95.. but I cant stop thinking that a human bias will come into play when they view the applications after interviews-- i know a lot of people either doing second degrees or prolonging their first degrees to get an interview, but none of them seem to be getting in... makes me feel ottawa prefers students who can get that GPA the first time around
