I chose the AM because I don't like waking up and having to wait to write a test, it tends to make me more nervous and anxious having to wait to write it. I thought the AM time slot was good, although I did have trouble sleeping the night before (but this probably happens to a lot of people!).

I'm normally NOT a morning person, so I'm registering for a 1.00 timeslot at 3080 Yonge (Toronto). I was just curious how many of you chose the AM timeslot over the PM timeslot, and why?

Feel free to post your experiences and advice on why or why not you chose the time you did.

What date do you have? I've got Aug 16, same time, same place :P

No way could I wake up for an 8 am test, I don't start properly functioning until at least 9 and I prefer not functioning until 12. :P

pm. i take a bit to wake up. not a lot, but i'm probably speaking and thinking more clearly after being up for a while. but beyond that, wanted to factor in transportation, potential inability to sleep the night before, and time to make sure everything under my control was as good as it could be so all i had to do was focus on the test. 8 am woulda been way too rushed for me LOL.

edit: i guess i should've written "writing" instead of "speaking". speaking might get you tossed from the exam, LOL, whereas writing was a considerable portion, haha.

****, i wonder if there's still any spots open, i should see if i can find one since my score expires soon, and august is ****loads away 40 plus is easily nailable

Last time I chatted with you here you at U of A telling me that it sucked and that I should choose a different school... Why are you wanting to write the mcat again? Drop out and now want back in? Just curious...

As per the OP, morning all the way. I booked 8am, stayed at a hotel across the street from prometric, woke up at 6:30 and showered, shaved, listened to eye of the tiger while punching the air, then went to prometric and boxed with the MCAT. It got a couple good hits in but I won the fight and got out by noon and was able to drive to the cabin, jump in a boat and float in the sun for a week.

It would kill me just waiting for my test time to come, I would try to review, see a bunch of crap I don't know and start panicking. I like it bandaid style, just rip it right off and be done with it :)

mmm, no, it didn't suck, one person made it suck, to the point of the violations becoming so innumerable i've stopped counting at 40, didn't know until i got some docs back and read 6500 pages of relevant law, but i have so much other **** on the go now, honestly... i've wanted to transform health, much in the same way francescutti views health since i was 19, especially mental health, and i wont go into the details, but i wont have any trouble getting in to a top us school at this point, the reasons i wont mention, i like clinical practice, but i'd like to sort of reconstruct our mental health paradigm, and to a lesser extent our sick care paradigm... that serves doctors, the epitome of the definition of health, in free health care... yeah, comparative to expenditure we do terribly in terms of outcomes, we violate img's from abroads un human rights... we push incompetent people along, there's so much waste, and inefficiency, and a complete lack of preventative care... i'm sorry, the fact that i know more psychopharmacology, to the point of the biochemistry of the nutritional supplements and how they fit in the biosynthetic cycle... and literally, and read 1500 page textbooks, it's freaky... honestly, i'm finding that people emotionally link universal access to care and socialist self regulatory care with little external oversight... yeah, the latter is viscerally not only inefficient, parasitic, self serving, but also in many cases so unethical in behavior that it's far beyond front page news... but that's none of my business anymore... so whatevs

I completely agree. And for all of those reasons I picked an afternoon seat as well.

When I took the test last summer (also at the same testing center), I also picked the afternoon slot. My only complaint is that I finished fairly late, since mine started at 2:00pm due to having 2 scheduled tests that day. That being said, I slept in that day and wouldn't have made it for the 8am test :)

haha, i remember writing mine the very last day it was available, because i was so unprepared i had to move it back after finnishing bio i swore i got a 6, ended up with a 10, and i only had like 1 bio class at the time, lol... this time around i can't wait to just dismantle this thing... if i can get up into the 12's in ps then

I wanted it as late as possible but not into September so AM was the only option.

August 16th for me too!

I chose the afternoon date because when I thought about it I always feel so crappy writing morning finals at 9:30 . . . no way would I be able to write the MCAT at 8:00 am. At least finals are like 2-3 hours, the MCAT is 4+hrs

i was late to my u of c med interview cause i got lost, but i managed to come of as sweet and charming according to this old lady... plus they did accept me... my car literally broke... so i walked into 711 and was like 60 dollars to drive me to laugheed hospital, walked into timmies, im late for my med interview i worked 4 years to get, yeah, i know im so retarded its almost funny sometimes, could i skip ahead of the line (at the timmies next door, 20 people let me skip ahead... seee, adhd... adaptive, deconstructivism, with a subtype in however, rather than determined, haha, yeah, true story, and i left my id in my car...

Here's a general tip. If you get a chance, go to the testing centre and check out where you'll be writing - so you're not scrambling to find the room the day of. It should make everything much more comfortable (:
