mjd2012
Just read on U if O website: "Are there reserved seats for out-of-province candidates? We do not admit students by regional or provincial quota. All interviewed candidates are placed on the list of excellence in order to determine who receives an offer of admission." I noticed that in the invite/regrets thread most people will specify if they are in province, in ottawa, out of province, etc. are these classifications seemingly meanless with U of O? Does an "OOP" applicant really have the same chance of being accepted as in IP applicant? If so...... That is awesomeeeee! Haha

Haha People state these in their invite regret thread because pre interview depends on GPA cut off, which differs depending on where you're located. mjd2012
So once applicants are invited to interview, everyone is on equal competition ground (for English, French, etc)? I'm just trying to get things straight as I know some schools have, say, 20 out of x number of seats assigned for OOP.
TaRoEl
Can't be 100% sure about that my buddy at UToronto has stated that am investigation was launched against the univeristy for potential favourism towards Ottawa locals and bilinguals. Because different 'interview styles' for given towards different applicants. So they might be putter everyone on the same page this year who knows. And I don't see why they can't favour Ottawa and bilingual students. The univeristy is looking for people that they want in their med school, so if they think bilingual students and people from Ottawa are best suited for their school then they'd pick them. TaRoEl
I think maybe by the canadian faculties of medical schools, in a way its unfair for everyone esle who are discriminated twice (once for the WGPA and again pre/post interview) aka 2 students one ottawa and one ooo, go to the interview, both given very "different" panel interviews, with the purpose of eliminating the ooo ip student from the running asap. You can still get in, your work is cut out for you, just saying...
souljaboy
Can't find any information on google about any favouritism for Ottawa, unless it's super secret. But there is inherent favourtism associated with panel interviews which is why everyone's switching to MMI.
