Implicit 3/5 rule UBC?

Recommended Posts

Is there any implicit 3/5 rule for UBC? They dont say anything on their website.

Also, do they look negatively on easy courses?

I took an education course to balance hard classes. And I plan to take at least 1 first/second year course in third year per semester.

what does implicit 3/5 rule mean? are you talking about course load? if so, take 5 course per semester unless you are working or have family commitments, then less is okay if you point that out on your application.

taking some easy courses is okay as long as you are working towards completing a degree and you arent signed up in undeclared studies and you are talking all basket weaving

Some universities have this rule that 3/5 courses per sem should correspond to that year or higher. I have maintained full course load and would continue doing so. But i took more electives than what my program allows (not all of them are easy, some were interesting like linear algebra/ economics etc) and because of that I couldn't do two courses that my program outline wanted me to do in second year.

I plan to do them eventually. Would doing courses via distance education or at community college with transferable credits make my application look bad?

yeah, schools are many things but they have no reason to hide things like that. What would be the point? They would rather make it official, have people self exclude themselves by not applying and thus reduce their work load.

Some eastern schools make a fuss about these things... Ubc is more flexible. Any strict rules are posted
