KJP
Hey all, Who else has applied to and is seriously considering Sydney's dental program (DMD) for this upcoming Feb (2014) intake? I am practicing for their MMI held end of July and I'm looking to see who wants to run some practice drills in GTA area ?? Their admission evaluation is MCAT or DAT / MMI Interview (50/50). Interviewees are selected by GPA and MCAT. Cheers
OzTREKK
Hey KJP, Just to update you, admission in to the DMD at Sydney is based on four criteria: 1. Meeting the Human Biology pre-requisite. You need to demonstrate that you have completed studies in this area. Fairly easy for most, as if you are from a BSc or BHSc degree you will have studied in that area or field. 2. GPA The Sydney Dental School prescribes a minimum GPA that you must attain to have your application moved to the next phase. The GPA requirement is merely a 'hurdle'. Once you have met it, it is no longer assessed. 3. DAT/MCAT You need to complete either the CDAT, USDAT or MCAT. You are ranked on your scores in anyone of these aptitude/admissions test, and then shortlisted for an MMI interview which is completed via Skype. 4. MMI Interview Most would know what an MMI interview is. There are five scenario based stations. You complete the MMI via Skype. However, unlike an in-person MMI where you move from one station to the next, during a Skype MMI, it is the interviewers that move PCs from one interviewee to the next. Offers: Offers are granted to students based on a combination of your Aptitude Test (MCAT/DAT) and your MMI Score. So (MCAT/DAT)/MMI Score. You are ranked on the combination of (MCAT/DAT)/MMI score and then shortlisted for an interview. Your GPA is not considered in determining whether you receive an offer or not, as it is only a hurdle and a standard that you must meet. Once you have met the GPA minimum standard, your GPA is no longer considered and your application moves to the next assessment stage. Hope that this helps. If you have any q's just let me know. Take care, Matt
