Exam study schedule advice

Recommended Posts

I have an exam on the 22nd and one on the 24th. The exam on the 24th has alot of content whereas the 22nd class is not as hard as the other but its a biology course as well so you have to make sure you know your stuff. I was wondering if anyone of you could give me some advice on how much time I should assign to studying for these two exams. I'm going to start studying for both tomorrow which would be the 16th.

My initial plan was to study for the 24th exam on the 16,17,18 and then for the 22nd I was going to do 19,20,21.But the problem is that I don't know if i will be able to finish studying all the material for the exam I have on the 24th.

Hey!

So good plan so far. Ultimately, what you decide to do depends on your learning style, as well as your retention ability.

If you proceed with the schedule you have planned right now, how much of the studying from 16,17,18 do you think you will retain after having studied for and written your April 22 exam?

My $0.02: don't focus as much on studying for the April 24 exam, but rather on being prepared for the April 24 exam.

What I mean by this is make sure your notes are good (you've read any accompanying texts and added to your notes), then read your notes over a few times. Familiarize yourself with the material as much as possible so that when you have April 22, 23 you can full out study for the exam.

Again, it comes down to whatever works best for you.

Cheers,

SP

The only problem I have for the 24th one is that the prof made the final 50% all of the old material and 50% of the new material. So for sure I can finish the new material within those three days, its just I dont know where to fit the old stuff and thank you for the response

Your better off doing a block schedule for both as oppose to full days.

16, 17: Morning- 22 exam, Rest of the day- 24 exam

18: Equal amount of time on both

19,20: Morning-24, rest of day 22 exam

21: All day 22

22,23: All day 24

I wanted to try this out but a lot of people told me that you tend to mix up terms and concepts but does block scheduling work for you?

Works for me too. I do better by breaking up my studying. I can take a break from one subject by focusing on another and I tend to retain more of both.
