cbarne01
... without sounding like an idiot? There's lots online about deconstructing MMI prompts, but I'm having trouble starting my responses. For ethical situations I would like to walk in, shake the interviewer's hand, introduce myself and begin. Something like: "I believe that there are x main components of this situation, ___ and ___. Firstly, I believe that..." But when I say it out loud, it feels really awkward. Does anyone have other sentence starters that you might use to start your discussion in an MMI station? I'm in a rut

Vidhya
Just sit down and get to the heart of the matter. The interviewer knows the prompt. They want to hear your ideas on the weighty matters in the scenario. Just say hello, smile, sit down and say something meaningful. This is really good advice and I feel it applied completely to my UCalgary MMI. Trying to reiterate the scenario may get you flustered in the moment because you are forcing yourself to use a device that someone else suggested (i.e. it's unnatural to you). Try to be yourself as much as possible. What I did was walk into the room, shake the hand of the interviewer (they usually rose and offered their hand as I was entering the room so it was natural), and then I sat down and said: "Well in this particular scenario I feel that..." All MMI's are slightly different, but if you apply to UCalgary make sure to download their sample questions. They completely replicate the real Calgary MMI in style, so I feel they are great practice questions to build confidence.
