OppositeOfSum Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Hey for anyone that goes to York which of these lab courses did you guys take and which ones did you find relatively easy/enjoyable I need to take 2 of them to fulfill my biomedical science degree? Animal Phys I Animal Phys II Advanced Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics Laboratory Microbiology Histology Biotechnology Animal Development So far Im leaning on Microbiology but Im not sure which other one to take. I heard that Histology is alot of work as is Animal phys I and II but I have no idea about the rest. Any input from you yorkies will be much appreciated.
zerolimits Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 Animal Phys I <<<---- Hard lab and course work. Animal Phys II<---- hard labs, course work is easier (maybe if you found BIOL 2030 easy) Advanced Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics Laboratory <---- Hard labs, BUT if you like biochem and molecular cell stuff, its easy and you can get high marks too. Microbiology<---- its hard course in general and labs are hard (I know this from 2009-2011 years). Histology <---- extremely hard labs - you have to put in extra 3 hours outside of the course and lab work. Biotechnology <-----easy lab and course though, but it is very time consuming (again if you enjoy biochem and molecular stuff). Animal Development <----- It is relatively somewhat easy. In my opinion you can get high marks in Animals II than Animals I, but it requires memorisation, interest. Those two are key elements. For biochem based courses, your interest. But they are relatively harder than Animal based courses. I was going to take biochem courses, before I transfered out. Animals - not my interest, but my friends who took it found it hard and challenging though. The labs were not straight forward (as if any yorku science lab is), but you can pull A avg, depending on your TA and Prof.

Those two are key elements With Colin G Steele (for animal phys I at least)? Everybody's told me he marks his tests like an essay and he'll take off marks for a perfectly correct answer if it's not written eloquently enough.
