UWO waitlist

Recommended Posts

As one of the wait-listed applicants, I'm just wondering if anyone has an idea as to how many are wait-listed.

It'd be nice if they tell each of us the ranking so we can expect better what to come in the next few months...

Anyways, congrats to those accepted and fingers crossed for all the wait-listed applicants!

I was talking to a dental student before the interview and he told me that they do have a lot of people on the waitlist, enough to replace the whole class if they were to all reject their offers. But I'm not sure they'd need that many on the waitlist.

I've tried today and asked them if we could know about our ranking and the number of people on the waitlist. But they told me that both are confidential...

In the past (pre-2007), they used to tell you if you were High, Middle or Low on the waitlist. However, they have changed their policies, and they will not tell you anything related to where you are on the wait list, what you can improve on in your interview, the score you received on a question, etc. From a purely logistics point of view, it is not feasible...although I cannot say this is the reason why such info is not released.

I recall a couple years ago (when I was on the waitlist) people discovered a pattern where it seemed that they sent out acceptance emails first, then waitlist offers (in ranked order from #1 to #whatever), then rejections.

Not trying to fearmonger; this is just honestly what I remember. From that discussion I figured I was in the middle of the waitlist and kind of gave up on the hope of an acceptance haha.

They don't send emails anymore. It's all done online now, and at the same time.

Just got a call from Trish!! Seems like wait list is moving :) Good luck to everyone else who are still waiting!

Congratulations!

Does anyone know what happens if they call and you miss the call? Do they call your emergency contact or any other contacts? They should really just do this all online or notify by email as well. I'm terrified of the idea of missing any calls now.

I actually missed the call first time haha She left me a voice mail and asked me to call back so make sure you have voice mail working for your phone. And ya.. I'm not sure why they don't email as well. Good luck!

Can anyone tell me how long the waitlist moves until? I've heard that UfT's waitlist moves until August! But I have no clue about Western. Are most of the waitlist offers accepted early on or does it still move later in the summer (July, August)?

I was told that it can move right up until the white coat ceremony. It was either last year or the year before that a student was offered the day before white coat at Schulich. As for Toronto, I heard there was a student who was offered on the day of class last year.

Thanks! That's kinda crazy. I'm not sure what I should really do with my summer besides study for the DAT again and maybe do another year. I wish they gave rankings to students! I don't understand why they don't!
