What is the e-mail subject of an offer or wait-listed?

Hello rsun,

I was waitlisted last year and the subject of the email I got was "UBC Undergrad Admissions:Application Status – Waitlisted". So they most certainly don't keep you in suspense.

Hi, I have a question: how frequently will they release the acceptance to the applicants who are waitlisted, once a week, or everyday possibly? I will travel out of province. If waitlisted, should I check my email everyday?

Last year offers were sent as followed (from UBC's Blog):

2nd Round Offers - May 25th

3rd Round Offers - June 4th

4th Round Offers - June 8th

It starts out about 10 days between offers and shortens to 2-3 days very quickly. Last year the second round of offers went out on May 25th, third on June 4th, fourth on June 8th. After that there wasn't too much movement and offers were made individually and probably had to be accepted within 2-3 days. So if you are unlucky enough (or lucky enough, depending on your point of view) to stay on the waitlist after the fourth round I would say you should definitely be checking your email every day.

correct me if I am wrong, but I remember reading it somewhere on the website/emails that this year the offer will not be sent through email but rather posted on the online application.

Touche larkspur!

However, I'm surprised the "after" isn't capitalized... was that an error on your part or is UBC actually inconsistent with their e-mail subject lines?!?!?!!??!

They say offers of admission are only sent through the OAS every year. Technically I think the e-mails are notifications while interview invites and offers are what you receive through the OAS. I think the reasoning behind it is to avoid confusion. They want you to realize you have to log into OAS to accept the offer/invite instead of replying to the notification e-mail.

also, I am wondering what time are the emails sent, is there an order, say, acceptance is sent first, then waitlist then regrets or all emails are sent at the same time?

What about regret/waitlisted, also on the online application?

Last year it went acceptances (by site), then waitlist, and then rejections. They happened pretty quick in succession...so I would not worry about it! Also, the subject line of the email, just like interviews, says regrets or offer status. Your online application system will update quickly after the email arrives.

Good luck to us all!

The admissions were sent at 10:18 via email but they were updated earlier on OAS.

Haha, nope, that's a complete copy-and-paste on my part. Let's hope that's the only inconsistency they make this year!

I got my regrets letter last year at 11:26 AM.

I remember users posting about being accepted on this forum before then. Hopefully I'll be able to avoid checking my e-mail until the afternoon this year because I didn't like hearing of others getting accepted before I knew my fate lol. The stats most people post along with their acceptance status (MCAT, GPA, EC's) are usually dishearteningly higher than my own and it's difficult to remember that this forum may not be a good representation of the average.

Maybe they noticed and have already fixed it for this year! We'll find out soon :).

You bet monty! Ever since they opened their doors :). How bout you?

I definitely ranked SMP as my top choice. I went for a campus tour the week after my interview and loved what I saw! Everyone I talked to was super enthusiastic and only had positive things to say. I really like the idea of a smaller cohort as well. Aaaaand Kelowna is gorgeous. Win win win. Anyway, hopefully I'll be seeing you there :D
