I would like to know this as well. This is my first time applying to McGill and I am also an OOP applicant. From what I do know they look at cumulative GPA instead of subGPA and take references and personal submissions into account more so than schools like Western for instance. I am not sure how much French plays into it, do you speak French? I don't, but their general inquiries person responded and said it is not a factor. I also got a response that MMI invites go out either the last week of March or first week of April - but that seems really far away right now!:)

I do not speak french, and it states on their website that french and english speaking applicants are considered equally. However, we are expected to develop our french skills so that by the time we have our clinical placements, we can have conversational french with clients/ coworkers. The site says placements will be very limited to those who do not speak french. If accepted, I plan on taking many french courses in my down time so that I am prepared for my clinical :)

Congrats! When is the interview scheduled for? It took over a week for all of the invitations to be sent out last year - so there's still hope for anyone who hasn't received one yet!

Thursday, May 15. And yeah the email gave us about 24 hours to accept before they gave our spot to someone else so inevitably some people will decline their interviews.

I know they've been posted before, but I've been looking at these links

http://multipleminiinterview.com/mmi-questions/

http://fhs.mcmaster.ca/mdprog/documents/Manual_for_Interviewers_2006.pdf

As well as the CAOT website has lots of great information if you click through.

Thanks for those helpful links Mhunte03!! I was searching for that McMaster one...

Besides what it says in the Admissions pdf under interview... I'm not sure how they score the interview.

Thanks. It kind of makes it look like the decision will be based 100% on the interview from here on don't you think?

Yeah, in the invitation it says "the interview is the final component in the selection process" sounds like the interview is all that matters now.

I have found that too, I haven't come across anything that was specifically for OT. I also tried youtubing "MMI practise" and some interesting stuff comes up, some helpful some not so much. I would be interested in practising as well, but am in the Toronto area.

Hi guys,

I am wondering if anyone would care to brainstorm what it might mean that we will be asked to "address the scenario questions by using the props provided in the room".

My mind is going all over the place with this one. Seems like we will be given random items and a situation and asked to describe how we would use that item creatively in the situation. Sort of makes sense but there are a lot of variables. For example, will we be give a selection of items and then asked to choose the best one and describe why? Or will we be given one item and then asked to imagine how we might use it? Could we be asked to build something? What kind of items and what kind of scenarios could they choose? I'm assuming we are not just going to be given some piece of OT equipment and expected to know a lot about how to use it.

Is anyone else thinking similar thoughts? Or do you have some different ideas?

I was a bit baffled by that too.

The only thing that comes to mind for me might be if we are given some sort of Lego, and we are instructed to tell someone how to make a structure, without them seeing it?

Or, maybe there is tissue paper in the room and we can offer it to someone crying?

Your situation seems really complicated and interesting though! :)
