The answer is: NO.


notice the size of that no. It is big. As in a big no :)


For at least two reasons. One can only work under another fully licensed doctor as a resident who has to be aware of what you are doing, and no doctor should unless it is a very strange situation prescribe medication to themselves or their family.

The problem with self diagnosis and treatment is when you are dealing with yourself, you aren't a very objective observer and therefore your judgement is crappy.


sounds a bit silly but it is also kind of hard to do a proper physical exam on yourself :) I mean basically you aren't going to a good job at any part of the medicine here. It is even worse with close friends or family - you don't really want anything to be wrong so how hard are you really going to look.
