Application and MCAT

Just wanted to see others thoughts on this: I'm writing my MCAT this summer but didn't even think about the fact that some school might look negatively on the old MCAT if I apply in fall of 2015.

I already called Western and they said that they would accept the old one for five years. I couldn't find info about the issue for any other schools other than calgary and ubc. Does anyone know of other schools that might look negatively on an application that has the old MCAT as opposed to the 2015 one?/should I just void this one (it's too late to cancel/reschedule)?

I really REALLY don't want to write the new one with sociology/psychology

Apparently I can't make life decisions on my own haha, so I'd really appreciate any advice on this :)

Why would you wanna void the MCAT? You've worked hard up until this point, go and write it. I doubt they will look negatively on the old MCAT. If they make it their policy to accept it, they won't penalize applicants for following their own policy. In addition, there will be crap load of people applying in 2015 with the old MCAT, unless they state otherwise, it doesn't make sense to discriminate against a large pool of the applicants for having the old MCAT.

If you are writing the MCAT now, why aren't you applying this cycle? I think you should.

Unfortunately I don't have a really good shot this cycle. My cgpa is only 3.45 with my best 2 year gpa being 3.7 (this past year was a 3.8 so I could technically apply to western under the conditional stream, but I'm really doubting my ability to get 11 on verbal to meet their cutoffs). So this year would be an insanely long shot :( I wanted to write the MCAT this year just so that I can avoid having to study for sociology/psych which im not very good at. And because I want to apply for this summer research program next year.

I understand your concern with your stats, however, if you are not pressed for money (read: have lots of money) apply anyway. It will be a learning experience and you will have nothing to lose.
