New Yorker
Hi I am a high school student going into grade 12 next year. I am curious to how computer science will be applied to medicine and biology in the future. I did some research on google but I couldn't find any satisfying answers to the question. If you guys can give me some examples or explanations of computer science being applied to medicine that would be awesome! Thanks!!

If you guys can give me some examples or explanations of computer science being applied to medicine that would be awesome! Thanks!! First of all, I think it's great that you're finding your own path towards medicine and looking to see where your interests/program fits into the career. I may not be the most insightful person on this forum (or anywhere), but just think of computer science as a major discipline based on technology. If you look at, not just medicine, but almost every other progressing field, you can see that technology is obviously playing and will continue to play a HUGE role in them in the future. If you want to look into how it relates to medicine, think of the direction medicine is going. Tele-medicine, biomedical engineering applications, new devices/machines for diagnosis and treatments, and the use of handheld devices for medical use and access to care; I'm doing research with tele-ophthalmology and enjoy global health so this was interesting for me: Just keep reading current events and you'll see this growing trend in medicine and healthcare. Look into doing undergrad research as well, preferably with a professor that does work in health and technology. You'll see applications in medicine, pharmacy/pharmaceuticals, biomedical engg, biotechnology, etc. and you may even be a programmer for the next big thing...or a doctor haha
