Chance My Friend

Recommended Posts

Hey I don't know much about U of A med and my friend was wanting me to ask her shot at an interview/if worth applying. 4th year IP 3.96 Gpa, 29 MCAT (balanced) and average to above average ec's. Is the mcat a total app killer or does she still have a chance? She is also a rural applicant. Thanks!

It's honestly like looking in a mirror :) minus the rural part. Because she's rural, it helps quite a bit I believe for reserved spots? But being in the same situation as her and receiving feedback from other members on this forum, I've been told that I could at least get an interview.

Cool, good to know. Hopefully the MCAT score can slide! Just a worry I suppose due to the (insane) stats of people in this program. It really is amazing to compare a school like UBC where the GPA/MCAT average for IP is so much lower

Not really... Alberta and Calgary calculated my GPA so that I was near 4.0 last year while I wasn't even in the 90%'s for UBC.  If Alberta's GPA average is significantly higher, that probably implies that other parts on the application are weaker on average for the invited pool (EC's , etc)
