OttawaURookie Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Hey, So I'm considering back-up options. Any of you know anybody that is a Pathologist Assistant...how do they like it? is a good career?
Laika Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Yes, I know many PAs. It's a good back up option. Most are happy with it. Interesting work, decent hours/pay. It would also allow you to apply to medicine later, if you wanted to (I think a number of PAs use the program as a stepping stone to medicine). One downside is that there are relatively few options for promotion/advancement later in your career. I've also heard that admission to PA programs is becoming progressively more competitive, and tuition is increasing. I'd be happy to try to answer any other specific questions you have.
medicallyinclined Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Hi, I'm currently in the PA program at Western Ontario with the interest of pursuing an MD in the future; if you have any questions about the profession or program feel free to PM me.
