Worth Applying?

Recommended Posts

Someone I know had 14-9-14, 3.98, and still didn't get in and he said it is because of the 9 in VR which made me freak out a little

At UofT, anecdotally (upon analysing the acceptance stats thread), a 9 in VR wouldn't hurt your chances of acceptance any more than a 14, and a 3.98 wouldn't be enough to save a bad application. It's more likely the case that the adcom for UofT found either a flaw in their essays, or ABS that they couldn't overlook.

Of course your friend, who has no idea what the adcom was thinking, spotted the more obvious "flaw" and incorrectly attributed it to that. However it seems fairly clear the MCAT serves as an initial cutoff only.
