Fly
I am still having trouble getting a few of my Top 10s down to the right character limit. Is it okay to use short forms like w/ instead of with, and & instead of and?
Crazy Med Mom
I've read a couple of Top 10's from past med students, some of which used the "&" symbol; none I read used other shorthand, however. Not sure if that helps.

shematoma
I just looked over my Top 10 from last year and I remember being tempted to use shorthand but didn't. If I had to choose, I might be tempted to do in the Summary but not the Impact section. In some cases I used numbers like "2" instead of writing out "two" even though convention would dictate otherwise, but that was it. I could have written pages about some experiences but sometimes you're forced to choose and be concise. Just sit with your thoughts and keep boiling, boiling down till you get it to fit. IMO If you are going to cram your stuff w/ abbrevations, it's going to stand out, and your stuff better be pretty damn good.
