My Transcript Still Shows As Outstanding

Recommended Posts

So as you all know today was the OMSAS deadline and one of my transcript still is showing as outstanding. (Same thing with a reference letter, but I'm not too concerned as my schools of choice all have a Nov. 1st deadline for letters)

On the website it says:

"OMSAS is currently receiving a high volume of mail. We cannot advise on the status of documents received at this time.

We expect to be up-to-date by October 15."

Anyone in the same boat?

So basically, we won't know until WELL PAST the deadline whether transcripts may have been lost in the mail, misplaced, etc. and they don't even want you to use a secure method of mail with tracking.

Both of my transcripts and all three letters were late coming in for me last year, and show as not received right now.

Check on the 15th (OMSAS will also mail you a confirmation letter once they comb over all of your grades), and if anything is still outstanding, take action at that time.

Thank you for that advice!

I sent my transcript three weeks ago and it isn't showing up as received. Thankfully all of my reference letters have arrived...

i would call them..they indexed my transcript wrong even tho i sent it in august. they're really nice so I dont think it would hurt to call if you're concerned :)

*Edit: I called them because my references were updating but my transcript was not and the former were sent much after the latter.

Has anyone else had to send IB transcripts and had difficulty with them being delivered to the OMSAS? I sent mine in exactly a month ago, and while my university transcript is now showing as received, my IB transcript appears to not have arrived.

I will call them, but curious about others' experiences (if they had to send IB transcripts)...

Hmm, just want to point out that my advice above did not involve IB Transcripts (I obtained an OSSD, which didn't need verifying). I did have to send transcripts from 3 schools though... but IB would be through a different process entirely.

I would definitely call them to make an inquiry. They're very nice people!

MathToMed, you're so right. They are so nice!

I gave them a call, and from what I was told they process all university transcripts and reference letters first (for everyone). IB transcripts get processed last or nearly last. (I wouldn't have had to send it if I didn't receive pre-req credits for my diploma, of course!)

Best of luck to everyone that the postal system is kind to all of us!

I just got off the phone with them. They asked me if I have receipt or proof of mail. I told them that I have email correspondence from the issuing university confirming that they have mailed it out, and they said that's all I need for now. They're still opening the mail and updating statuses, so check back by next Wednesday. A huge relief and thanks to everyone who replied here as well.

Just to be clear, all this talk of mailing in transcripts is for those who, for some reason, did not fill out the OMSAS TRF?

Isn't the OMSAS TRF only for transcripts from universities in Ontario? I'm in BC so I had to order my own transcripts to be sent. (Is that what you meant by foreign universities, MathToMed? I guess because I live in Canada, I don't consider myself foreign.  :P  Even though, in some of the Ontario-based med schools' eyes, OOP = foreign...)

I was just listing two possibilities as opposed to an exhaustive list for the purpose of demonstrating why someone may not use the TRF (there are many more situations where a TRF would not suffice than just the two I mentioned). When I said foreign, I meant universities from outside of Canada...isn't that typically what foreign means? :P
