docmm
My referee misread the application instructions and only mailed in the CAF. I checked in with her and she was very apologetic for the error and said she would submit a letter by the end of this week. I advised her to submit a new CAF (with the same assessment) and the letter and I sent a message to OMSAS about this using SAM. My request has been processed but I did not receive any response. I am applying to schools with a >Nov 1 deadline. Should this be fine? I also realized that I gave her my IT login number instead of my OMSAS reference number to include on the letter. Is this OK? Thanks
robclem21
I imagine this fine since they are still processing and likely won't send anything out until November. IT number is better anyways since this matches what is on the CAF.

docmm
Is it mentioned on our OMSAS application webpage whether our referees only submitted the CAF ? It is not. If you call OMSAS and talk to the processing department they will be able to tell you this information if you explicitly ask. I found out because my referee emailed me saying they had submitted "the form" and I followed up from there.

Is it fine if the letter and the CAF are mailed in the same envelope together without there being a reference number on the letter?
5HT
Wait - is the OMSAS reference letter supposed to be on the letter? Is it fine if the letter and the CAF are mailed in the same envelope together without there being a reference number on the letter? The CAF includes all of the identifying information necessary for OMSAS to link the paper CAF + letter to applicants (granted they are received in the same envelope). I could be wrong but I think the reason why docmm is referring to a "reference number" is because he or she now may need to link additional documentation to already received documents and the SAM communication system likely provided a reference number to acknowledge receipt of the request through the system. In short, don't worry! There is no additional "reference number" for referees to include/record with their completes CAF and accompanying letters. The CAF has our OMSAS IDs in the header. sgwonsukee
Thanks for asking this question. I am having the same issue, my referee thought she could send the letter later. I would be apprciated if you could update what OMSAS said. I am calling them tomorrow. My referee misread the application instructions and only mailed in the CAF.
