Full Course Load Versus A Non "full" One

Just curious, I'm a Western student planning to apply to the states, and I am highly thinking of dropping a course, which would put me at 4.5 credits of my last year. Would this have a drastic effect on application processes?

For US schools, not at all. I know people that took a non full course load every year and got in. As long as you have a solid GPA, you're good to go. Canadian schools, on the other hand, strongly prefer a full course load.
