Hi,

Is it an advantage or a disadvantage to have done co-op during your degree when applying to US med schools? Is it a bad thing that it will take me 5 yrs to complete my degree? Also, does this mean I will have to wait another year to apply to most US schools (I am in 3rd yr right now)? Thanks.

I did a co-op degree at Waterloo. No problem at all applying to US med schools (they tend to be a lot more flexible about when you do your courses); it is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage. Also, another year is really not a big deal, if it just takes you longer to finish your undergrad degree.
