Hi,

I only just finished first year studying at McGill but I am looking into applying to med schools after third year. I have heard that it is becomnig increasingly more difficult to apply after third year to Ontario med schools and was wondering if the same trend is occuring in the states. I am interested in applying to all the top tier schools especially columbia and john hopkins. Any help woule be great!

Most American schools don't accept students with only 3 years of undergrad. If you order a copy of the Medical School Admission Requirements (MSAR), you will see numbers like: 98%/99%/100% of students had baccalaureate (sp?) degrees. Although a degree isn't required (usually 90 semester hours are the minimum requirement), by looking at the numbers there is clearly a very strong preference. Hope this helps.
