When Do Schools Find Out?

Recommended Posts

Hi quick question - do Canadian schools find out (match results) the same time that we do or do they find out in advance of us?

Just asking because at my school in the U.S. for NRMP you get an e-mail indicating whether you matched or not (nothing about the specialty you matched into or the school)

then you attend some ceremony at school and pick up your letter in front of everyone and tell them where you matched

So basically the school knows where you matched and which specialty in advance

everyone, including PD's,  finds out at the same time, from what i have been told.

There is a very brief lead time I hear for the school's student affairs office (like an hour I heard) so they can prepare in case there is a lot of bad news etc - but that not much.

the point I guess is that the office won't be able in anyway to give you an early result.

When our system failed for CARMS in 2013 the office was able to tell us if we matched or not even when we couldn't access the results. They couldn't say where or into what, but they could at least say yes or no.
