Chances At Us Md Schools

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I would greatly appreciate your feedback on my chances for US MD schools/ what schools to apply to for the upcoming application cycle.

To help you out, here are my stats:

Graduated in 2014, now currently doing my masters.

AMCAS GPA: 3.62

Science GPA: ~3.7

1) First year: 3.42

2) Second year: 3.54

3) Third year: 3.67

4) Fourth year: 3.84

MCAT(2 attempts):

First attempt: PS10/ VR 7/ BS 12 (29)

Second attempt: PS 9/ VR 10/ BS 12 (31)

I am considering to write the new MCAT in order to improve my chances.

ECs= Average: Research, Hospital volunteering, tutoring etc.

Schools List so far: MD: Oakland, Howard, Meharry, Albert Einstein, Rosalind Franklin and Wayne State; DO schools (MSU-COM, TOURO-COM, KCUMB, WESTERN).

Thank you!

I would add NSU-COM for DO schools. It is an excellent school as well as UNECOM, both are well-established and Canadian friendly (NSU-COM less so this current cycle, but that could just be a product of an already competitive cycle as-is).

Additionally Marian-university COM is new, but setting itself up well and has a very good program thus far.

Your chances are better at USDO schools than USMD schools.  Based on your list, some of those USMD schools are very expensive, so be conscious of what you are getting into in general - w.r.t the currency conversion and debt load. Pre-plan before applying!
