Candiens12
Any news on the competitiveness of psychiatry this year? Was it another more competitive year, or did it seem better then last year?
MilSarah
There were not a lot of spots left in the 2nd round this year. http://carms.ca/pdfs/RsaM842R36_1OverviewByDiscipline_EN.pdf

LittleDaisy
2 spots at Vancouver Island? I thought UBC was a pretty competitive program? Vancouver island is not downtown Vancouver, it might explain or perhaps the seleciton committee did not invite or rank enough candidates

Renin
Not everyone I knew who wanted psych got psych. Some people got psych in places they didn't want to go (don't know why they ranked that place).
Freedom
everyone i know who wanted psych got psych Not everyone I knew who wanted psych got psych. Some people got psych in places they didn't want to go (don't know why they ranked that place). I concur with Renin. There are several programs that completely matched this year and people matched to another program or even go unmatched since it was psych or nothing at all. ellorie
We matched seven to psych. Five I know got their first choice. The other two I don't know how they ranked but at least got in their top two or three. Everybody here who wanted it got it somewhere they wanted to go and we sent four to Toronto. Anne
I am the one UBC Vancouver Island student from the first round. It was my first choice because I'm from NOSM and wanted to be somewhere smaller, but for residency wanted the academic experience of a larger centre- this felt like the perfect mix for me. Vancouver was my second choice then UofT. I could have been their last choice -gotta love the algorithm
