Guest Lactic Folly
Just something that occurred to me as I sit down for finals review... If you write about a personal experience in which someone else could potentially be identified, should you have permission to talk about them in your essay? :lol
Guest Ian Wong
If you're going to disclose information about someone else, you should probably get their permission first. Of course, if you are disclosing that your best friend Bob likes wearing Nike sneakers, then that's no biggie. But, the next question becomes, why would you be discussing someone else in that much detail when it is yourself who is the med school applicant? Guest Lactic Folly
Thanks for your response Ian.. I was planning to write about a brief experience working with someone who had a particular illness, and thought that this might be common in application essays. Of course it would be anonymous, but I just thought - what if they'd rather not be talked about in someone's med school application? Oh well, I don't have much of a way to track them down.
