Emkert
Is there any chance that our behaviour outside of interviews (e.g. during the tours with current medical students) are also observed, and potential red flags can be reported to the admissions committee? coldpizzahotsriracha
Is there something you did that you're particularly worried about being a red flag? Unless you swore excessively or came off as super ignorant, I think you should be okay haha. I don't think med students are actively watching...but if you do something really unprofessional it'd likely be noted.
Emkert
Hmm I said a few swear words when talking to another interviewee on the tour, I don't know if any med students were around to hear it. And I told a funny story that can be connected to underage drinking to another interviewee and med student...(seems so dumb now but they all laughed at the time and I thought it was no big deal until now). So right now every time I think about it I cringe a bit.

I was kinda goofing around with the med students and interviewees in the 3 minute breaks between stations, now I'm getting all paranoid over it. coldpizzahotsriracha
I don't think it's worth stressing about, especially given the high-stress nature of the situation - laughing is a great way of relieving stress anyway

mononoke
I think swearing excessively is no big deal and not something I would report. If that's your way of stress relief, then so be it.
Emkert
Thanks! I know that people are generally understanding of interviewees and their nervousness, and it's also calming to see the answers in this thread too
jmatt1122
Not for med school as far as I know. For residency, yes. Yup. Med admissions are pretty objective and clear-cut... I'd bet that nothing besides the actual interview will be considered for admissions purposes. For residency... something you might have said in the hospital hallway while walking by a consultant/resident/PD can count against you kill your application at that school and whichever others hear about it (small specialities especially talk to each other). Jaybird
Don't say anything outstandingly dumb outside the interview. Don't say anything outstandingly dumb inside the interview, either, now that I think about it.
Dr. Brule
It's entirely possible. We were interviewed in the physical exam rooms and they had microphones on the ceiling that our tutors use to spy on us during ASCM (our clinical course). There were also dark windows in the room I was in.
