Earliest We Would Hear Back For Waitlisted Applicants

Ontario med school results come out on May 12, anyone know what the earliest date would be that waitlisted OOP students will hear back?

No idea but also wondering. It all depends on when people start dropping off of the wait-list. I think Ontario schools give you about a week to accept the offer? So the top wait-list people will hear back at least a week after May 12th.

In the acceptance letter, Dalhousie specifies that you are not allowed to hold a seat at more than one university for over 48 hours (they threaten to withdraw your acceptance if you do this). So I'd imagine they need to inform Dalhousie one way or another by Thursday. Who knows when admissions will get around to calling those on the waitlist, though. Hopefully ASAP but I would guess it's not going to happen until next week.

I declined my offer of admission today to attend medicine at another school.

I guess the problem is that schools from different provinces dont communicate so one can essentially hold multiple offers .

I'm not sure if they're bluffing about the last bit, but I doubt anyone would be willing to chance it!

How does Dalhousie contact the waitlisted applicants? Is it via email or telephone or both? Since I'm at work everyday I'm afraid I would miss their call if they happen to call!! Hopefully they would leave a voicemail or email as well.

I'll be rejecting a WL offer (OOP) if I get one -- will email them to remove my name from the list when I have everything finalized at my choice school.

Ontario school deadline to accept is May 26th. I think you guys will see more movement (for IP who want to go there, and OOP) after that point.

When I was accepted to Dal first and then MUN, I called Dal to ask about this 48 hour deal, and they said that it only actually applied once you paid the deposits for both schools. So I only paid the deposit at Dal and waited for about a week (since I had 14 days to respond) before responding to MUN! When I read the 48 hour thing at first, I was shocked and worried about making a big decision that quickly!

I'm not sure how much movement has occurred but two years ago my OOP friend got in around June 8 so there's still hope!

Just FYI for waitlisters: I got an offer from OOP waitlist and declined since I'm already all set up at another school already. So the list will still be moving for OOP.
