medafter30
Hi everyone, I am bringing the topic has probably been covered else where. As a newly admitted med student, I am thrilled for having a shot at my dream goal. Knowing that I am qualified for a LOC of 200-250K is incredible, but as the time goes by, I am trying to be realistic and hope to look for funding elsewhere so I dont come out of med school with 150-200K in debt. I started the process of applying for OSAP, but other than that, I dont know any other sources of funding/bursary available for med students. I am grateful for any advice on here from many experienced med alumni. I am an Ontario studying McGill if that helps anyone that wants to help out. Thanks so much guys! Username92
Hey! Here's a page with all the bursaries etc. available to McGill med students: http://www.mcgill.ca/study/2015-2016/faculties/medicine/professional/ug_med_scholarships_bursaries_loans_prizes_medals I know that they give a lot of need-based bursaries that can be quite substantial, and quite a bit of academic awards too! oshaku
I am not as familiar with mcgill's financial aid for med students as for science UG, but in my time as a science UG (with ON residency), they gave me a few thousand every year in need-based bursaries. MD2015
Don't worry about the debt, just spend reasonably, and you will pay it back. The LOC is there b/c it is needed.
