TheMedSchoolGunner
Hi Everyone, I am interested in applying for medicine in Hong Kong. I'm currently in my last year of undergrad in Canada. Would any members who have experience and/or have been successful be able to provide advice on the application process? I have written the new MCAT but fell short of the cutoffs for UofT and Western, and I don't think I have a good chance with other Ontario schools with my CARS score. If anyone can share their experience, I would greatly appreciate it!

Edict
If you speak Cantonese, HK is not a bad option. I wouldn't say Singapore is any better than HK for medicine purposes, don't know where you got that from.

s5260205
The only program in Asia that is easily accessible to North American students is the Duke-NUS in Singapore which doesn't require you to take any additional exams except for MCAT. Edict
Is Hong Kong easier for international students? I thought med school in Hong Kong is harder to get into than Canadian ones I think it is, its very hard for local students but for internationals I know of someone who couldn't get into Canadian medical schools who got in at HKU. However, I don't know that person well enough to refer them to anyone.

Edict
Can you get a job in HK after going to HKU? Yes I believe so but the person I know who went there was of HK background not sure if they had a HK perm res card or not or whether or not that makes a difference at all.
