Deferrals

Under what conditions are deferrals allowed upon being accepted? It says they accept 1-2 a year, so is that just medical... or can a person say they want a deferral to do a masters?

pretty sure deferrals are for personal reasons like sickness, family problems, etc. I dont think you can get a deferral to complete an academic program because your major academic goal should be medicine.

I don't have a clue but if I were adcoms, I would not accept a deferral for the reason you propose. Take your pick, one or the other. I would not bother to ask on this basis if I were you.

I don't think they grant deferrals for academic purposes.  There are many successful applicants accepted to medical school who are not finished their graduate degrees. Some choose to finish them concurrently, some do not. If you'd like to finish yours before medical school I'd probably suggest holding off on your application until next year.

I do know MUN has granted deferrals to allow students to finish their graduate degrees, if only a year left. That said I think they only give a small number, and also the applicant was likely exceptional. A lot of people don't even want to finish their graduate degrees if they get accepted cause they didn't want to do a grad degree to begin with.
