CD.flamy
Rejections are being sent out right now... I'm OOP. Can someone else confirm this? Are they sent out in waves or a single batch?

CD.flamy
I think they'll probably send OOP rejections first and then IP rejections. Last year it was 3:00ish for OOP and 4:20 for IP Wrong I am IP and I got 2:
Neurophiliac
Can someone else confirm this? Are they sent out in waves or a single batch? Definitely waves. If you check the rejections from last year, they are all different time stamps.

I applied to UBC because I am from British Columbia (born and raised), but because I am a mature student and have lived a rather complex life, I don't have a BC care card anymore. So, I missed the OOP cutoff by 0.4%, I thought I would apply though, because moving home has been my goal. sent them a letter explaining why I don't have BC health care, and of the 10 years I have lived outside of BC, 7 have been as a full time student. Seems to have made no difference though.
Neurophiliac
Usually they send regrets for OOP first. OOP applicants are mostly from eastern Canada and have a later time zone as compared to local time. My guess is: Ontario applicants who are unfortunately rejected will receive regrets first. Last before IP applicants will be Alberta OOP applicants. Finally, it will be IP applicants. In other words, I think they try to aim sending the regret emails during late afternoon. So right now, Ontario time is late afternoon; it seems they may be receiving regrets first.

RKsf
Who knows. This entire process is just so nerve wracking that part of me just doesn't want to know. The OOP life is brutal.
Neurophiliac
That seems like an unnecessary amount of organization. The organization could be useful if they are predicting to get a lot of calls and emails from those who receive regrets. If they sent all regrets at the same time, it would likely be chaos for admissions team.

Neurophiliac
^ Since both of you are considered IP, you'll be in the IP pool. Hopefully you guys don't get regrets!! But if that might be the case, then some time around 4:30-5:00 PM EST may be a little dangerous ????

As long as they send out everything before the office closes.

Haha, that may well be the case as well! But my theory does, in a way, explain their wave system

amichel
I still think this is a cruel way to do this. Everybody else sends everything on the same day, including schools who get a whole lot more applications than UBC. Hang in there guys!

To think that 0.4 percent on some random test or labs/paper marked by a grad student having a bad day....wow. I honestly think they should round those up to 85%. Next cycle apply in the USA, get a file full review as it should be done!! Good luck!
