Wait List Support Thread

Thought I'd bring this thread back instead of making a new one. I have a question re: waitlist, not sure if anyone knows the answer to this.

 

Why is there multiple rounds of WL acceptances. I would think that if people have until the 26th to decline then 90% of WL offers would be at this time. Are the subsequent rounds just because some first round WL will decline and the 1-2 accepted that may pull out due to unforeseen circumstance? Thanks!
