So I got into UTM for "Behaviour, Genetics and Neurobiology" and these are the courses I have to take for the program...

  • Students in Behaviour, Genetics and Neurobiology take Biology, Calculus, Chemistry (BIO152H, BIO153H5, MAT134Y5, CHM140Y5).

What other courses in first year do I have to take for pre requisites for med school? I did some research and it said "Prerequisite courses include two full courses in life sciences and one full course in social science or humanities or language. " for UofT Faculty of Medicine.

In general, to be eligible to apply to UofT, McMaster, Western, etc. What courses should i take first year in addition to the required ones in my program. Thanks :)

Looks like you answered your own question. Now just repeat for all schools listed

Thats great haha, however I don't know what two full courses in life sciences means. By "life sciences" do they mean like chem, physics, bio?? That doesn't specify if you need organic chem or general chem, physics or calculus. And by "full course" does that just mean like a full year course?? What specific courses are a part of "life sciences" that are pre reqs?

I did a specialist at UTM in the program you're entering (and did many classes on the St. George campus). Some suggestions for courses that I took that I found very manageable to do well in and fulfill the requirements you're speaking of would include,

Social Sciences:

- GGR333 - Energy & Society

- GGR287 - Food & Globalization

- PHL283 - Bioethics

I did well in the following courses, but they may be considered more difficult depending on your strengths/weaknesses

Humanities

- PHL220 - Existentialism

- CLA201 - Latin & Greek for Scientific Terminology (lots of students state that this is an easy course, but it requires a really large volume of memorization. If this is your strength, you can do well).

- CLA204 - Greek & Roman Mythology (don't cram for this course)

You will have many credits that are necessary for your degree that will be considered life sciences. Bio205 [ecology], Bio207 [genetics], Bio210 [human anatomy & physiology], Bio407 [behaviour Genetics], etc. Any of these courses will fulfill the requirements you're talking about. Intro biology would be included here as well.

If you have specific questions, feel free to ask or send me a PM.

-- just a note that the above courses are not *easy*, but what they do lack is the game-playing type of ambiguous sort of riddle exams that are seen in many other UofT courses. If you diligently study, your marks will be reflective of your efforts in these courses.

Sorry, I didn't do my undergrad in ON so I'm not sure about the specifics for UofT. I can tell you that full course=full year, and I can't recall specifics but I'm pretty sure the UofT med website gives examples of courses that do/don't count. However, if you're in Life Sci, then you're going to cover all the UofT med requirements about 5 times over, save for humanities
