kate
I completed my specialty residency training a few years ago. I have pursued several fellowships since then, but have not found a permanent "grown up" job. Job prospects in my specialty are not great. Is anyone up-to-date on ways to apply for a second residency in a different specialty and/or family medicine? (I looked into the physician re-entry program in Ontario, but I don't think I am eligible because it indicates that a person would have to have been independently practicing full time in Ontario for two years at the time of application in order to use this program.) Thx.
mononoke
This is just disappointing that we are training specialists but not having enough jobs for them. Are you restricted to working in toronto or can you locum to earn income elsewhere?
kate
I should have clarified that I am able to earn an income in my field (for which I am grateful.) However, under-employment is an issue in many specialties, and I have some specialty-specific concerns about where my particular specialty is going, job security concerns etc. Which is why I am wondering about second residency entry pathways... JohnGrisham
I'm curious, are you geographically limited either on your own accord or due to your current specialty?
daftjustice
Also, do you mind sharing which specialty? Is it surgical?
