Ems Playing Around For A Dance Show

Hi there,

I have some questions regarding electronic muscle simulation (EMS).

I'm a musician/technologist, I have no medical training or whatsoever but I know my way around microcontrollers and computing.

A friend passed by my studio with a EMS device the other day for his girlfriend (a choreographer) who wants to do a dance show where the dancers are manipulated live with EMS like puppets.

A little bit like what these guys are doing:

We had tons of fun, triggering different muscles generating movements etc.  :-)

I have a question: where does this becomes dangerous... I mean I don't want to cook my friends arm with this...

We played around 35 volts for 0.25 seconds and it kind of became weird a bit but the movements were still not that ample. We'd be interested into real body parts movements and not only muscle spasm.

Can any of you guys point me to some specs so we can play around without making any damage?

Like max voltage/amps Vs time?

thanks for your time and any info,

Patrick
