member_225
For anyone interested, Laval has changed the criteria for the selection of candidates from 80/20 to 70/30 (grades/interview). I just saw it on the website, did you know about this?
Dentiste
They will completely change the program, this year's class will be the last 4-year doctorate cohort. From 2017 and onwards, it will be a 5-year degree just like Udem's DMD with 219 credits instead of 179. Hence the change in the admission requierements. member_225
Oh, why did they change the length of the program? Do you think this will change anything in the admission process (less applicants)?
Clapton
Damn, I was looking forward for the 4 years program...
member_225
Damn, I was looking forward for the 4 years program... Why do they need the extra year? For montreal it's a preparation year, right? it's not part of the 4 year program. I'm really disappointed....
Dentiste
No, Udem also changed the program, there is no longer a pre-dent year. It's five years of DMD. They probably added an extra year to somewhat spread the coursework in more courses. Because the current 4-year program is brutal from what I've heard. After all the smallest semester has 19 credits...

member_225
Who cares about a 25 credits session, we're freaks ! I would rather study more in 4 years then to be relaxed throughout 5 years. However, if they added new things to the curriculum (which I think they did judging by the number of credits added), then it'll more than likely be beneficial for the students later on in their careers. I'm just bummed because I was planning around a 4 year degree
Dr.Watson
I feel that this didn't necessarily deserve its own thread so I'll post it here. I don't remember where I read/heard this, but I think I heard something about U of S becoming a 3 year program instead of 4. Anyone know anything about that?
