Are References Done Online This Year?

Hello,

 

I was wondering if references are being handled online this year or if there is still a letter referees must mail in.

 

The application guide says "If you provide an email address for your referee, they are required to complete the reference online." Suggesting online completion, but next says, "If the referee does not have an email address, download the form and forward it to them. They must mail it, with their accompanying letter, to OMSAS when complete."

Just want to be sure what instructions to give my referees.

about time. I mean this entire mail in situation is annoying to say the least - everyone is always worried about if something got lost etc. 

 

sounds like they will be getting an email from OMSAS using the one you provided giving them instructions for how to complete the letter online - many other parts of the medical education process do that - CARMS, fellowship apps etc. It is a better way to verify things as well as the letter will come from usually an official email address (as opposed to something like aReallStrongReference@hotmail.com) 

 

So better as for an email address of your LOR referees that they use and will check etc. Avoid the entire mailing thing if at all possible.
