Hoiiz
Hello, I am having trouble deciding on which 3 referees to choose for my OMSAS application. I have already had one written by a graduate student supervising me in an extracurricular club I have been a part of for one year. Another one I am going to get from the Surgeon that I shadowed last summer for one month. My last reference is currently going to be written by a doctor who has known me my whole life and allowed me to volunteer and work in his diagnostics lab last summer for a month. I am now having second thoughts about the last reference because I am lacking a strictly academic reference coming from a University professor. I have not built a relationship with any professor and so I chose not to ask any for one because I believed it would be too vague and not personal enough. Now I am concerned that none of my 3 referees will cover me from an academic / university perspective. If you have any advice on whether an academic reference is needed or strongly preferred or any advice at all please let me know! Thank you for your time
Bambi
A weak academic reference is not worth much. Perhaps the physician is able to address your academic, scholarly qualities.

Hoiiz
@bambi thanks for the feedback. @yesIcan55 There is no requirement for one academic reference. Your academics should be spoken about somewhere between the 3 references.
