chromeboker
When applying to Radiology... such as in personal letters... can we use the word Radiology? or do we say that we are applying to Diagnostic Radiology?
Lactic Folly
Diagnostic radiology is the official name of the program you are applying to. Otherwise, it's more common to refer to the field as radiology (for example, in the context of career choice).
thestar10
The reason it's prefaced with Diagnostic is because Radiation Oncology used to be more commonly referred to as Therapeutic Radiology. In fact in the US, the American Board of Radiology certifies both diagnostic rads and rad onc.
chromeboker
Thanks, so back to the original question do I say 'blah blah blah.... I'm interested in pursuing Diagnostic Radiology....' or just ....'Radiology'
feversugar
I just put radiology. Everyone will know what you mean don't stress too much on the details. If it makes you super anxious jut mention it as diagnostic radiology the first time it comes up in your text and then radiology for the rest. Good career choice
Lactic Folly
Agree, I would just put radiology. Adding the word diagnostic might imply that you are differentiating it from interventional radiology.
