Dr.Watson
I've had PC's in the past and they always ran into problems. I've had two macs over the course of the last decade. First one lasted 7 years, and is still working but I replaced it because its slow and I wanted some of the new features. The newest one is almost 3 years old and has never had a problem and is still extremely fast. So, in my experience, while macs are significantly more expensive, they last a lot longer. Also, last I checked, mac's product line starts at around $1000 for a laptop. To me, its a worthwhile investment.
Fakedoctor
macs are definitely more reliable and last longer in general, I switched 2 years ago and my mac still runs like new and the battery life on the macbook Air is very good. But I have heard good things about the Surface and it costs just about as much as a mac
Kentucky Fried Blaziken
PCs are only "unreliable" if the user is a total noob and installs bullcrap on it. Macs are more lightweight and have better battery life, making them a superior classroom laptop, but most places have plugs so it's a non issue. Zaandrei.
Have my PC for about 6 years now... holding up fine Macs do have the higher average build quality though. EDIT: Glorious pc master race.
DC-Comics
TeamPC here. Agreed with the above two posters, with some TLC, PC's can last just as long as a Mac (had mine for 7 years and counting). The only reasons I would switch are for the same reasons as you Mac users: getting slow and want a hardware upgrade. Glorious PC Master Race.
