Does anyone have a good estimate at the of the standard deviation of admission averages? For example, UBC's average hovers around 86% - would an 84% have any chance?

For UBC yes you'd stand a chance assuming a great DAT (especially given the weighting disappears if you make it to interview stage) - whereas at other schools the weight of the GPA factors in to the end - In the old days at UWO the GPA was worth 60% (although likely less now that personal statement/EC considered).
