pondare
Hi! Are there clocks in the room so you can easily see how much time is left? Thanks!
OwnerOfTheTARDIS
No. You just need to practice until you can 'feel' what an appropriate length answer is.
End Poverty
At U of C, they let you know when 1 min is left. Not sure about UBC
loodogg
you usually get some sort of warning
medicine
No warning given at UBC, the bell rings at the end of 7 minutes.
OwnerOfTheTARDIS
Updating my answer: the blog has a post that says there may or may not be clocks in the rooms, but no timer. That just makes me think that they neither add or remove clocks - their presence totally depends on whether the room already had one or not. Either way, they're not a guarantee so we should be prepared to go without.
PeanutButter1
I assume we can wear digital watches?
OwnerOfTheTARDIS
I assume we can wear digital watches? No, absolutely no watches at all. It's all laid out in the interview info tab of the application portal.
PeanutButter1
Oh wow, didn't notice that part somehow, thanks.
hopeful4UBC
Don't rely on having a clock in the room. If the room is anything like how it usually is, and the interview positioning is the same as it was last year, you'd have to turn around 180 degrees to look at the clock because it's usually on the side of the wall that the door is on. Definitely don't do that in the middle of your interview.

OwnerOfTheTARDIS
Are there any alarms to indicate how much time you have left? No. Again it's all posted on their website. There is rarely an easily visible clock and only one buzzer when you're allowed to enter and one buzzer when time is up.
amichel
As someone who did 3 MMIs and was accepted at all of them, you're overthinking it. Say what you have to say, then answer the follow ups if there are any. If you still have time, reread the prompt and see if you have anything else meaningful to say. If you're talking for 7 minutes straight, you're probably talking too much anyways.
