Uwo Interview Invites 2017

Recommended Posts

So Western offers 56 spots for admission, but last year 38 of those spots were accepted off of the waitlist. That means 94 acceptances were given out. Is it right to say that approximately 1 in 2 people will get an offer of admission?

No. Waitlist movement changes every year.

Did anyone get rejected with high AA and RC

I have a 92.26% best 2 years  and 24RC. however i had no shadowing. Was that required?

I know a couple of 2020 students with very little to no shadowing experience. I guess it wasn't required as long as you had a reasonable explanation.

I remember finding out about the shadowing when the application was first made available. I completely freaked out. In the end I just shadowed about 25 hours in like December and I guess that was enough for them (although I thought it looked rlly bad)

We only found out when the application became available so I feel like they were more lenient in our year since it was brand new

Congrats to everyone who received an invite, hope to see you here soon.

I'm involved in planning this year's interview weekend, let me know if there's anything you want to see/hear/learn/(eat?).

I'll be offering answers to logistics of the interview day ONLY.

Try not to PM me, I'm sure your questions will be helpful for everyone.

1. Do tours of the dental school take place at specific times or do they occur for each group of interviewees before/after?

Excluding lunch, there's a set of tours every half hour between 10 and 4:30, we may run tours before and after these times as well.

2. When is check-in? (I guess this will be disclosed when the interview time lottery results are out?)

Check-ins are open all day, you're encouraged to arrive an hour ahead of your interview and volunteers will direct.

3. Not a huge deal but will there be coffee at check-in?

No promises, I believe there will be at lunch, but not for the rest of the day.

4. For travel purposes, how long should I expect to stick around if I want to attend the Q&A, tour, etc?

Q&A is at lunch (12:15-1:15), tour takes about 30 minutes, interview is another 30 + 30 min (at least 15 before and 15 after). Plan accordingly.

Could you please clarify what the 15 minutes before and after the interview is for? Thanks! :)

It's to make sure the interviews run smoothly we will be escorting everyone to the interview rooms about 15 min ahead of time. And sometimes interviews run late, we try to keep it under 30 min, but we did allot 45 min for each interview.

Are we able to go on the tours/pizza lunch on either day? I'm interviewing on Saturday, but would like to do the tours and stuff Sunday when I am less anxious/stressed.

Will there be storage room to put away some clothes and shoes?-----I'm from out of province and may have to change into interview outfit when I arrive. Will this be a problem?

For the tour, is it mostly for the dental building? Or the whole campus, which means lots of outside walking?

Thank you in advance!

The tours will just be for the dental school. So just indoor.

We will have hangers for coats, I believe. But no specific storage room. Maybe you could hang your stuff with your coat.

And I don't think there is an issue with going on tours on Sunday (if your interview is saturday)

Everything happens in the same building. I'll look into setting up a storage room/closet/space for applicants.

Does that mean we will be sitting in the room waiting for the interviewers to come in, or will the interviewers already be there? Thanks for answering our questions by the way.
