HopefulDent2017
Hey Everyone, I was recently invited for an interview at Western Dentistry. I know the interview is a Panel and no longer follows CDA format. Do you have any tips on what the interview will be like this year? Any tips on how to prepare or tips for the day of? I haven't any experience with panel interviews so would be very appreciative of your help
Zaandrei.
The 'old' format was still 'panel' based... the newer style of interview is basically a modified CDA as far as interview styles go - same idea.
raib
They're still trying new things, be ready to sell yourself with solid experiences.
HopefulDent2017
Thanks!! If you've been through the process before, can you offer any tips?
kingfletch
Thanks!! If you've been through the process before, can you offer any tips? Having prepped and done this last year, I'd say practicing tons did help a lot since I felt confident when I went in. My guess is that the new structure will be a melding of the CDA format with more traditional style questions in terms of weighting (they seemed to want to ask me more traditional "sell yourself" stuff last year at the end of my time but ran out of time by the time they had covered all the CDA questions). Therefore I plan on basically boning up exactly the same way that I did last year. I still have last year's package of Dental Interview Plus for the CDA content (there are other packages such as Topstar and Elite), and will book some Crush or Astroff time to finesse delivery. Frankly the content you develop for the CDA Behavioural questions would be equally applicable to the traditional "sell yourself" type questions so practicing for one is indirectly prepping for both. Good luck y'all.

I was under the impression that there will no longer be one of the "tell me about a time when you had to...." kind of questions...

AncientDentist
Is it the norm for people attending the interview to be buying/preparing with these products? ThTheexac Not sure about others, but I basically only used these books just for the questions. I wanted questions which are unique and got me out of my comfort zone. You can probably do without them if you know of some other place to find dental interview-related questions.
kingfletch
Everyone is different but I used the books for both the questions and the technique in preparing. I found them really helpful rather than second guessing myself all the time... but that's just me. I like structured approaches, and a framework to work with. Not everyone does
