The majority of people in the group are uppers years and many in the group are going to other schools (whether med or dental)

It's still too early to tell, but maybe this year is going to be different and the high waitlist won't clear (even though it was created as a conservative estimate based off of the last several years)

Maybe Western DDS is really popular this year ..

Hmm, maybe. I only know of one person who has chosen UWO over Uoft. The large majority chose UofT...

Lol, the UofT waitlist hasn't moved much either

Probably because dentistry is just more popular this year

A lot of things could be happening haha
Not a lot of overlap between med and dental applicants, people holding onto offers as long as possible etc etc. This is why UWO needs to give people their waitlist #s lol

Keep in mind that it's still REALLY early and this forum is a small sample size. This year's threads are somewhat consistent to past years where UWO ended up moving 38 and UofT moved 35 (gradually over the summer, but with a spike just after the deposit for UWO). Dent movement is a lot more spread out than Med admissions, so it can be nerve wracking for dents. I don't think the overall waitlist movement will be hugely different this year compared to the last few years, but who knows!

Result: Waitlisted (Emailed and was told good chance to receive offer)

GPA: 93.5%
IP/OOP: IP
DAT (AA + PAT): 21 + 17
Interview: Felt good and was confident! Definitely better than last year!
Year of study: Graduated UG 2016

ABS/PS: Lots of varied long-term experiences, research and shadowing. Worked on PS for a while.

Not sure where to attend if I get the call from Western but congrats to those who are accepted!

Received an offer of admission today off the high waitlist! Undecided as of now!

Don't give up waitlisters and don't forget to check your voicemail (I missed their call yesterday!)

Hey J1324, just curious why you chose UofS over Western. Are you from Saskatchewan?

Thanks!

There could be a logical reason being that Saskatchewan gives generous grants and bursaries, which means spending 20K less a YEAR. Plus the fact that tuition is cheaper already

Actually, the tuition is about the same now when factoring in all the equipment/kit fees, clinic fees and tuition, the difference is not that much since UofS added a program fee of 7000 per year for dental students on top of tuition and clinic/kit fees. Also, they use textbooks moreso than UWO so those costs get added too.
