There's Research (as many as you like), Awards (5), Work experience (as many as you like), Leadership (3), Capacity to work with others (5), Service ethic (3), Diversity of experiences (12) and High Performance in an Area of Human Endeavour (3). The numbers represents how many activities under each category you can put (ie. you can put a maximum of 3 activities related to leadership roles under the Leadership category)

The description fields for the work experience and the non-academic (leadership, capacity to work with other, service ethics, diversity of experience and high performance in a human endeavour) are all limited to 300 characters each, which includes whitespaces and punctuation.

You should look up the help guide :) it has really helpful descriptions and examples. Capacity to work with others could involve customer service, working with aboriginal groups, diverse age groups, lgbtq+ groups, and anything that takes you outside of your immediate peer group. Diversity of experience is almost anything - music, art, sports, debate team, traveling, and so on. Service ethic usually involves volunteering, either through an organization or independtly (helping an elderly neighbour for example).

This. The online application for 2017/2018 opens up on June 14th this year for UBC. I highly recommend downloading the full PDF version of the UBC Med Admissions Help Guide for 2017-2018  from the UBC Med admissions website when the new version is made available. The 2017/18 help guide should be made available by mid-June.

Yeah the help guide is meant to be a step-by-step guide through the application. So it's probably the best option for looking at the application layout before it opens. When it opens next week, you can create an account and browse through it all you want. But you have to pay a initial deposit ($50 I think) to start filling it in and saving it.
