Chances (MSc, work experience, 3.7 wGPA, 513 MCAT)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Hoping someone can give me their opinion on my realistic chances!

last 2 years GPA: 3.7

MSc GPA: 3.72

Overall MCAT: 513 (90th percentile) - (CARS: 126 - lower than expected!)

Above average ECs! Graduated in 2012 and then worked in the professional world for 3 years (business degree). Completed MSc in UK. Did a post-bacc year to gain all science courses to prepare for the MCAT (science GPA 3.9). Lots of leadership experience, many many volunteer hours, backpacked from New Zealand to Japan for 5 months.

My main question is do I have realistic chance? Or do I need to write the MCAT again? I haven't touched MCAT books for over a month and would have review everything in 3 weeks to be able to write it again for Aug 24th... Any input would be helpful!

Thanks!

So you think I'll be okay applying without rewriting the MCAT? Thanks.

What's your specific MCAT breakdown? Looking at the accepted page, there are some people who had one section around 125-126 given that their other sections were higher. IMO, your 2 year GPA is on the lower side of the spectrum, but given that you have an MSc + ECs are above average, I would still put in an application. However again, it's difficult to determine your chances with queens specifically, mainly because Queen's does not disclose any of their admissions statistics.

Thank you for your input! My Chem/Phys section was 130, CARS 126, Bio 126 and Psych/Soc 131.
