How do rejections work?

Let's say someone doesn't meet cut-offs and therefore doesn't progress to full-file review. Would they have heard back in terms of rejections already, or do "pre-meditated rejections" also come out in waves?

I don't think TO sends out early rejections normally. There is just a batch process at the end. 

(correction ha) I am not being clear here - they aren't super early but they do happen - see below re hartk48

So even people who didn't meet cut-offs might not hear back until much later? What's the logic in holding rejections for people who didn't even progress to full-file review?

Last year I got my “pre-mediated” (haha) rejection on Feb 13th. 

So yeah, rejections wil should come out soon. As far as I can recall, I was one if the firsts to post a rejection.

I got my rejection on March 13th last year(met cutoffs).

I got my rejection of the last day, but I rewrote the MCAT and scored 122 in c/p so im waiting for my early exit this year. Its just frustrating seeing how I have no chance but they just dont send the rejection.

Yeah, I totally feel your frustration. Doesn't make much sense to hold off on sending rejections that definitely don't meet either GPA or MCAT cut-offs ... if anything, it adds to the lack of transparency in this mind-bending process ... or perhaps that's the intention?
